Wauseyah, The Cherise Building, 140 Galloway Rd.

This 51,000 SF, 4 storey, 68 unit affordable housing project for Gabriel Dumont Non-Profit Homes (Metro Toronto) Inc. is currently under construction and was developed to intensify an existing 80 unit community to provide additional affordable housing. The existing residential buildings and associated parking garage will maintain occupancy during the construction of the adjacent new building and landscaped areas.

The project has received capital contributions through the City of Toronto Open Door Affordable Rental Housing Program and Cities Stream of the CMHC Affordable Housing Fund federal program involving close collaboration with the City’s Housing Secretariat and Priority Development Team.

The new development will include landscaped amenity spaces and a new playground.  A high performance building envelope combined with electric heat pump and energy recovery and storage systems will provide for near net zero GHG emissions during operation.
