YouthLink Shelter

Toronto

2018

Starting in 2001, we first converted this former industrial building to offices for YouthLink and Family Support Services, creating a courtyard oasis in the centre of the building within a setting of a car-dominated suburban environment. The next phase of work is first step housing and services for youth, including a total of 51 beds with 10 emergency shelter beds and 41 transitional shelter beds, on a suburban site in Scarborough.

The reincarnation of the building to provide new housing and services to youth builds upon the extensive work we undertook more than 15 years ago.

The 16,845 sq. ft. centre now offers supportive programs and services for homeless youth based on a mix of single and two-bed sleeping rooms. The pet-friendly facility allows youth who may choose not to enter many of the City’ shelters to seek support and remain with their pets.
