As part of the project development process, extensive neighbourhood outreach and engagement led to the development of a naturalized play area in the adjacent public park. This play area is used by children within the child care centre during its hours of operation, and open to the community during the balance of the time. Residents of the neighbouring seniors’ apartment building were delighted at the opportunity to have the child care centre as a new neighbour, and participated in the planning of the park with an eye to providing gardening opportunities and the opportunity to watch the children’s animated play.
