Hilditch Architect has worked on a large number of shelters over the last twenty years. Our work in this field is categorized into two primary areas: shelters for women & children fleeing violence, and shelters for people who are homeless, and often living on the street.
These categories are somewhat artificial, in the past based upon where funding for the project has been derived, however, there often common threads of poverty and violence that can cross over between these categories.
One other common thread is that people who may wind up in such shelters need strong support to help them overcome crises in their lives, in order that they may be able to transition back into mainstream society.
